The Hungry Bear cafe & motel, Forks, Washington

I can't believe this place has a website... but I googled it, and here it is! This cafe has the most gigantic hotcakes I have EVER seen. I'm not exaggerating when I estimate the diameter to be at least a foot, with a thickness of over an inch at the center. The craziest part is, you can order one, two, or three hotcakes. Who can eat more than one?!!!

Quoted: The Hungry Bear Cafe, Motel and RV Park located between Forks and Port Angeles, on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula.

    Le Pichet

Le Pichet, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

If I knew French, I would expound upon Le Pichet in the language it so deserves. But I don't, so let me just write that I have always had a 10 star meal at this little gem of a bistro. The wine list is excellent and reasonable, the food is delicious, and the service is tres bien! In my opinion, an ideal meal will last three hours, but though we had to cut our dinner short at two (no dessert or coffee, poo!), it lived up to its high standard once again.

Chicago Weighs New Prohibition: Bad-for-You Fats - New York Times

Proposed prohibition of using trans fats for cooking in restaurants. It's a good idea in theory: if the people won't make healthy choices for themselves, then do it for them. But I see it like the unsuccessful ban on another of America's favorite vices: alcohol. Can't you just see it? Organized fat crimerings; underground fatty speakeasys; contraband homemade fried cheeseballs in greasy paper bags! Oh yes, Chicago will have a nouveau gangster heyday.

Quoted: A proposal would make it illegal for restaurants to use oils with trans fats, which have been tied to health problems.

Vincenzo's Gourmet Pizza & Pasta, great Italian food in Seattle on Queen Anne.

Oh, I miss the smoked salmon pizza... you can have it cold for breakfast, too, because it has all the fixins like capers and onions and basil. Forget bagels and lox! I also recommend the baked cauliflower...
