This is the article, pointed to by Amy Goodman's 3/26/08 Democracy Now! broadcast, that alerted me to Randy Scheunemann's advisory role to John McCain.

Scheunemann, along with Bill Kristol and Robert Kagan, are members of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC). Names associated with PNAC continue to come up in discussions/news about the Iraq War, American military hegemony, and presidential abuse of power.

Again, be very afraid if McCain becomes our new "I'm the commander guy" (to quote G.W. Bush).

Online NewsHour: Debate | Experts Debate Iraq Surge | March 11, 2008 | PBS

Frederick Kagan, PNAC co-founder, believes the surge is working. That, right there, is reason to believe that the surge is NOT working.

Quoted: Debate from the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer: As Violence Peaks and Dips, Debate Over 'Surge' Persists: President Bush said Tuesday he believes last year's surge of 30,000 U.S. troops to Iraq -- which has been attributed with helping reduce the violence in some parts of Baghdad -- is working. Military policy experts debate the effectiveness of the surge strategy.

Rep. Fisher's Bill would recall Vt. Guard from Iraq | Addison Independent

While the norm in Vermont is to put down the gun or fishing pole for some fried somethin'-or-other, today the state in which I was born makes me proud.

Letter to President Clinton on Iraq

Once again, the Bush Administration is going to appoint a PNAC signatory to a high post. This time it's Zoellick as head of the World Bank, replacing Wolfowitz. I'm sickened.

TIME: Honor After the Fall Photo Essay (5)

I think #2 is quite striking. The idea, that the caskets of military personnel can not be displayed in the media but this one soldier is flown home on a commercial airliner with passengers looking on from their seats, makes no sense at all.
