Amazon debuts Kindle e-book reader | Tech news blog - CNET News.com

At first glance, I don't see this being much of a success. If I were to buy an e-book reader (and I have no desire to), the Sony one at Costco looks a heck of a lot better. Why can't someone just invent a screen/panel that can read the book stored on an iPod or smartphone (usb/bluetooth)? That way, I can still read the book on the device I always have with me or I can have something simple/light for longer journeys where the screen real estate really does matter.

Quoted: The retail giant forays into gadgetry with the launch of its electronic-book reader, hoping to succeed where hardware companies have failed.
