You can sign in with your Google account, and use it to keep track of your work items using a command line interface.
The concept is that you push items onto a stack, and pop them off when they are complete. It then tracks how long it took to complete each task (there is also a feature where you can add an estimate at the end of a task and it will compare your estimated to actual time when you are done).

This article directly addresses the thesis behind Rescue Time - that interruption is a primary source of productivity loss. RT also has much more detailed data than that referenced in this article.
Seems to me that the Kaiser Foundation (http://www.kff.org/entmedia/internet.cfm) would be very interested in aggregate Rescue Time data for their media and policy studies.
