Love this web site (by Mike Mathieu). It's my favorite google maps mashup. Just type in your address and WalkScore will tell you how "walkable" your neighborhood is. It looks for nearby amenities, such as grocery stores, restaurants, coffe shopes, bars, etc.
It's also a great example of simplicity - it's basically just a single web page. No sign up. No hassles.
