Quoted: Today we notified Commissioner Stern that we intend to relocate the Sonics to Oklahoma City if we succeed in the pending litigation with the City, or are able to negotiate an early lease termination, or at the end of the lease term.
Seems to me the Sonics will owe the city quite a bit of money to leave before their contracted lease is up.

The new Sonics area seats 18,500 (instead of Key Arena's 17,072). So, we're going to spend $500 million to get 1,500 additional seats? That seems crazy.
Let's just cut a new financial deal so the Sonics can make money playing at Key arena. I think everyone will be ahead (Seattle, the State, the Sonics) by kicking more $ into the Key arrangement than we would building this new arena.

click to playI saw this video at the Key - but it kind of happens too quickly. And I only just caught the Borat impersonation by off-camera Nick Collison - "Great Success", he says (of Gelabale's flying dunk over the head of a ball girl).

Lewis is going out on injury for 8 weeks. But Ray is coming back in.
Quoted: Sonics General manager Rick Sund announced today that an MRI performed late yesterday revealed that Sonics forward Rashard Lewis suffered an injury to the tendon sheath on the back of his right hand. Lewis will undergo outpatient surgery this afternoon performed by Dr. Carleton Keck to repair the injury, and is expected to miss eight weeks. Lewis suffered the hand injury at the 10:54 mark of the first quarter vs. the Dallas Mavericks on Dec. 20.

A great finish to a lousy season.
Quoted: Ray Allen scored 27 points and set the NBA's single-season record for 3-pointers to lead the SuperSonics to a 109-98 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
