Jeff Dean, an engineer from Google Systems Lab, explains some of the inner workings of the Google system. Really interesting details on the Google File System (GFS), and the "MapReduce()" distributed architecture.
Google re-wrote the original PageRank algorithms using the new architecture, yielding much smaller code, and higher reliability and performance. Real rocket science stuff and one reason why Google really kicks ass.
