Next to our racks, was a console and two cabinets for the Collins 3KW HF transceivers, a 208U-3A. In the middle of the room was a ping-pong table and a Foosball table.

Der Bunker wurde für 250 Solda­ten konzi­piert, war aber während des allge­mei­nen Diens­tes stets mit 300 bis 350 Solda­ten und bei Übungen gar mit bis zu 750 Solda­ten besetzt. Der unter­ir­di­sche Komplex besteht aus einem Perso­nal­bun­ker (vier Etagen, Länge: 72 m, Breite: 53 m, Höhe: 25 m), einem Energie­bun­ker (drei Etagen, Länge: 44 m, Breite: 53 m, Höhe: 21 m) und einem Energiebunker-​​Neubau (zweiein­halb Etagen, Länge: 55 m, Breite: 47 m, Höhe: 21 m, Bauzeit 1990 bis 1994). Gesamt­größe der Liegen­schaft: 68.000 Quadrat­me­ter.

Der “Kalte Krieg” ist mittlerweile beendet. Wie nah uns ein Krieg gekommen wäre, darüber informierte ich mich bei einem Besuch des “Bunker Erwin” in Börfink, den der SPD-Ortsverein Birkenfeld organisiert hatte. Der Bunker war ein ehemals geheimer NATO-Bunker, von dem aus die Luftüberwachung Mitteleuropas im Kalten Krieg gesteuert wurde.

Börfink. Bis 1994 war der Bunker Börfink Kriegshauptquartier für Mitteleuropa. Eine große Herausforderung für die Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben stellt der seit langem angestrebte Verkauf des Bunkers Börfink dar.

Nordöstlich von Berlin liegt abgelegen und gut versteckt im Wald zwischen Werneuchen, Strausberg und Bad Freienwalde, auf einem großen Areal eine heute verlassene Kasernenanlage. Vom nahe-gelegenen Ort Harnekop aus deutet nichts auf dieses Objekt hin. Nur Eingeweihte kannten den Weg. Niemand im Dorf ahnte, dass es sich bei dieser Anlage um eines der bestgehüteten Staats-geheimnisse der ehemaligen DDR handelte - den Führungsbunker des Ministers für Nationale Verteidigung.

Das dreietagige Bauwerk wurde zwischen 1971-76 für die Führung der NVA im Falle eines Atomkrieges gebaut. Ein insgesamt ein Kilometer langes, hermetisch abgeriegeltes Labyrinth aus Gängen und Schleusen führt zu rund 150 Räumen, darunter Kommandozentrale, Entgiftungsanlagen und Schlaf-säle. Dreissig Meter tief im Märkischen Sand, ausgestattet mit damals modernster Technik, hätten bis zu 450 Menschen fast einen Monat darin überleben können.

Die folgende Dokumentation von Matthias Büchting zeigt erstmals mit den Werkzeugen der Architektur-fotografie das Innere des Bunkers, um einen Eindruck von der Absurdität des Bauwerks zu vermitteln.
