Quoted: The regime of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il appears to be rolling back reforms and putting succession plans on hold. Speculation has been swirling about whether the ailing Kim has anointed his youngest son as successor. But, as NPR's Louisa Lim reports — after a rare five-day visit to North Korea — Kim Jong Il now is back on center stage.

WaterAid is an international charity. Our mission is to overcome poverty by enabling the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.
It is a shame that some countries redirect water for their own use even when they know they have enough of it starving other nations of their natural resources,

Your bags are packed, you’re ready to go… but do you have everything you need to board the airplane?
Many travellers are not aware of international travel restrictions and requirements. Things like visitor’s visas, foreign entry and vaccination requirements are just some of the details to verify for successful travel preparation.
Unfortunately, many who do check travel requirements consult contradictory or dated sources – resulting in a situation that will still keep them grounded upon airport arrival.
When searching for passport, visa and health information online, it’s important to know that your information source is accurate, reliable and – more importantly – up-to-date.

No mention of the "Fourth of July in February" celebrations I remember from childhood. I think those were put on by the Embassy.
Quoted: Often the official event won't take place on the Fourth at all. The big ceremony will be that week, but the embassy will close on July 4 itself to allow for more casual gatherings, which generally involve less speech-making and more beer.
Quoted: Overseas parties are heavy on pomp and circumstance. Marine security guards present the colors, and someone sings "The Star-Spangled Banner." Embassies near military bases may enlist the services of military bands for even more elaborate performances. In some cities, the July Fourth party is the hot ticket of the summer, and invitees (including local leaders, journalists, and other ambassadors) turn out in elaborate religious regalia or full military dress.
