Atlantis Adventures Maui :: Atlantis Submarine Tour

It's amazing that anyone with $75 can take a one hour submarine cruise to 130 ft. The sub is based in Lahaina. We had a beautiful sunny day and the seas were relatively calm.

I was expecting to see many more fish that we actually did, however; we went to about 4 spots on the sea floor where fish are congregating ... so I'd say we had about 10 minutes of looking at fish our our porthole, and 50 minutes looking at the sandy bottom.

My favorite part: watching the sub come out of the water (with the previous group on board).

Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Thailand - The Camp experience

We just got back from our trip to Thailand, and I would say that our stay at the Four Seasons Tented Camp was the highlight. The resort reminds me of our stay at Namale in Fiji - a very small (15 room) resort with excellent personal service and attention.

Each guest stays in a private tent with a view over the jungle, Ruak river, and into Burma and Laos. The tent has heat and air conditioning, but you can open the flaps and experience the fresh air and sounds of the jungle around you.

The resort stretches along a length of the Ruak river, and you arrive by boat. The tents are spaced out along 1/2 km of hillside with an amazing modern suspension bridge spanning a valley between two hillsides.

The most amazing aspect of the camp is the elephant camp. Guests are taught to control and ride the elephants independently. This was one of the most incredible experiences to be in such intimate contact with these wonderful animals.

We learned to control the elephants by voice command to allow us to climb on top of their necks, and to control them to go forward, back, and turn. We rode them around a pylon course, into a pond for a bath, and up some steep steps.

The baby elephants of the camp also come to the open-air restaurant each morning where we got to feed them snacks of sugar cane and coconut.

My only regret is that we stayed here only 2 nights - I would love to be here for a whole week.
