Google Web Toolkit - Google Code

Quoted: Google Web Toolkit (GWT) is an open source Java software development framework that makes writing AJAX applications like Google Maps and Gmail easy for developers who don't speak browser quirks as a second language. Writing dynamic web applications today is a tedious and error-prone process; you spend 90% of your time working around subtle incompatibilities between web browsers and platforms, and JavaScript's lack of modularity makes sharing, testing, and reusing AJAX components difficult and fragile.

TopCoder - Programming Contests, Software Development, and Employment Services

TopCoder is an interesting organization. Their primary activity is running programming and design contests (for which they pay out cash prizes to the top performers). In turn, they create an online component library (solutions to past contests) - which they sell and revenue share with the designers and programmers. Finally, they offer a form of recruiting and accredidation service for developers and employers (I'm guessing this latter activity forms the buld of revenue generated).

One problem with the site, is that it seems very complex to navigate and figure out what it is they are doing. But I think the overall concept is interesting, if not executed as best possible.
