For just $2,500 you can buy a complete Jet Engine system. Make your own flying wing, jet-powered boat, model airplane. This small model creates 13 lbs of thrust (3.25" in diameter wieghing under 2 lbs). Large jet turbines producing up to 34 lbs or even turbo-props up to 55lbs of thrust are available.
How about a jet-power kayak! 13lbs of thrust would probably get you moving real nice!

Awesome video of a Jet powered flying wing. Launched from an airplane (like a skydiver), flies under jet power for 10 minutes, then lands by parachute. Looks like a pretty thrilling ride!
