I was surprised to see Seth Godin dissing his users by not supporting commenting on his Blog (is it really a "blog" w/o user comments??).
But he does support TrackBacks. So, if you have your own blog, you can "comment" on his post.

The dirty under-belly of SEO marketing. Here someone is looking to create a bunch of fake accounts on social networking sites (including faves.com).
Note, we aggressively remove any obvious SEO SPAM accounts from Faves.com. I don't really see why they bother - we mark all outbound links as nofollow, so they won't get any search engine credit by having a bookmark on Faves.

This study predicts that online display advertising will DECREASE to 50% current levels in 4 years. Also predicting a decline is paid search advertising. Why would THAT be?
At the same time, they are predicting that online promotions (sweepstakes, contests, coupons, instant-win games) will triple from $8B to $23B in 5 years.

April Seattle 2.0 list is out. Faves is now in the top 10 (#9 by Alexa rank only).
Now with 282 companies on just this Seattle-based list, is it any wonder that web 2.0 companies are having a hard time getting heard above the noise? Now I can understand the importance of positioning and marketing:
- Provide a UNIQUE service (i.e. worth talking about)
- that somebody NEEDS
- and REACH them with targeted messages that
- EXPLAIN (briefly) how your product addresses their need.I don't know anything about 80% of the companies here - and I make it a point to follow Seattle startups!
