click to playWhy Obama thinks he SHOULD be president:
1. Will bring people together (e.g., can actually get a universal healthcare system implemented).
2. Committed to government ethics and transparency.
3. Americans are tired of political double-speak (he is willing to speak plainly about tough political issues).
4. Help change perception of America as more diverse and inclusive (both nationally and internationally).Quoted: Barack Obama answers a question from the audience in Alexandria, VA on February 10, 2008.

Quoted: "I mean, you got the first, sorta, mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man!"

How can Obama be considered a serious presidential candidate?
Qualifications:
- Law degree (magna cum laude, Harvard)
- One term in Illinois State Legislature
- Lost 2000 bid for US House seat.
- Won his 2002 Senate race by default (opponent withdrew after embarrasing divorce disclosures, and then replaced by the wacko Alan Keyes).
- Served only 2 years as US Senator to date - he'll have 2 years more experience by 2008 - but most of his time will be dedicated to his campaign. What fairy dust has attracted so much attention for him? Is an intelligent, well spoken black man so rare (is an intelligent, well spoken, *politician*, so rare)?
Of course, compared to Bush, Obama is at least articulate and comes across as a deep thinker. But why is someone with so little experience in politics the supposed front runner for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination?

My latest blog entry...
1 FaverViewed: 4 TimesQuoted: It hit me like a ton of bricks today - this will be my first time voting in Washington State elections. So, it seems problematic that I know more about Gov. Corzine's record in New Jersey or Mayor Bloomberg's attempt to seek a third term in New York than I do about Gregoire and Rossi.
