Photoshop Hangs At "Reading Text Global Resources... Done"

This just happened to me - Photoshop would hang on booting. Right after displaying "Reading Text Global Resources...Done", photoshop just freezes. If you click away from the window and back, the dialog gets erased to be all white. No CPU is being used and nothing will get it to load.

The solution: start Photoshop and hold down SHIFT-CTRL-ALT. You will then be asked if you want to delete your preferences file. Say yes. Boots fine now!

What a terrible BUG on Adobe's part (I'm using 8.0 - Photoshop CS).

Was It Done With a Lens, or a Brush? - New York Times

HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography takes the images of multiple diferent exposures, and then recombines them into one image which displays much more detail in both the bright and drark portions of the image.

Photoshop CS has a tool that adjusts the bright and dark areas of a single image - apparently CS2 has the multi-image combination feature. Images are really striking.

Quoted: High dynamic range photography is one of many digital darkroom techniques catching the fancy of amateur photographers.
