My Sony Plasma PFM-42B1 has been failing intermittently. The standby light flashes 6 times indicating "PDP Failure".

My PFM42B1 PDP (6 blinking lights) just went out on me as well. Called Sony regarding the HIC issue and said they are no longer repairing them for "free" or repairing any plasmas for that matter. We work in a single room office - so it can get noisy with multiple conversations going on. So I just slip on a pair of noise canceling headphones (either with or without/music) - and all the noise disappears.
These Sony's are audiophile quality with noise cancellation.

Mossberg likes the display and battery life of the Sony reader - but pans most everything about the product and book delivery service.
One of the first products to use "digital ink" technology; the display takes no power to maintain an image - just to change it.

I ended up getting the Sony VAIO VGN-FS8900 from Frys - 1G ram, 1.8G Pentium M, 100 G hard drive. 15.4" wide screen (1200x800) - about $1200.
