In addition to the Google static charts api (which download images), they have (flash based?) visualizations for different types of data representations (charts, maps, guages, etc)

The Many Eyes site, begun in January 2007, offers 16 ways to present data, from stack graphs and bar charts to diagrams that let people map relationships. TreeMaps, showing information in colorful rectangles, are among the popular tools.

A really cool project - they ping'ed ALL POSSIBLE IP addresses to see where machines were listening. And then created this dynamic resolution map of the entire internet, that you can brows with the google maps software!

I found the region of the IP space surrounding teamoffice.org (my house) (see thumbnail).

Here's port of the Processing language to JavaScript! This is cool, because now you can run processing scripts in a web browser w/o having to download additional software.

It DOES rely on the canvas tag, so I think IE is either out or requires an additional script that emulates CANVAS in IE.

Dig labs has launched yet another somewhat-cool looking, but hard to understand, visualization of what is happening on Digg. This time, they are displaying the images that are posted to Digg. I think Faves has a far higher percentage of bookmarks with good thumnails - maybe we should look at doing something interesting with them from a real-time perspective.
