News from the homeland. New Jersey and Oregon are the only two states that disallow self-serve. If lifting this ban really helps gas prices...great...but I'm skeptical.
Quoted: Rising gas prices are reviving talk in New Jersey about ending a ban on self-service gas that has endured for more than half a century.

New York Times article on Frank Lucas and the movie.
Quoted: It was the early 1970s, and every week nearly four dozen American soldiers were returning home from Vietnam in flag-draped coffins. Frank Lucas, who ruled a crime empire in Newark and Harlem, had a plan: smuggle the purest Asian heroin he could find into New York, stashed inside those coffins.

The area is quite impressive...they've renovated all the old factories and made them condos. And, it's full of young professional types. A 2000 sq. ft. penthouse in this neighborhood is $4.5 million.
Anyways, the food and atmosphere at the restaurant were good.

s and i saw bill bradley tonight. i agreed with the spirit of what he was saying: we, without regards to politics, need to honestly identify the problems the country is facing as well as where we want to be. then, the solutions become more evident.
i agreed with the problems he identified and many, but not all, of his proposed solutions.
Quoted: In this tart assessment of national politics today, Bill Bradley argues for the “general interest” over the special interests.

Yay, my old high school made the New York Times. Ohh...
Quoted: EAST HANOVER, N.J., March 13 — Students and other residents of this small Morris County suburb were struggling on Tuesday to make sense of the weekend arrests of a high school football player and his volunteer coach in the third high-profile drug roundup since last spring.
My friend's dad (police chief) did get a mention though!
Quoted: Stanley Hansen, the police chief in this township of 11,600, said it was the third major drug arrest in less than a year.

This is good to hear...
Quoted: I rarely use "breaking" in titles but I think this deserves it. After all the uproar over Senator Menendez's vote a few months ago for the unconstitutional Military Commissions Act which eliminated habeas corpus and legalized torture, it appears he's had a change of heart.

Quoted: The city-owned lot had been in a contract dispute with operator Robotic Parking, during which the company's employees were asked to leave and the software license voided -- reducing the all-important hardware to really expensive crap and leaving the cars trapped in their cubbies.

Christine Todd Whitman -- former governor of New Jersey and moderate Republican -- is on the Colbert report right now.
Quoted: Christine Todd Whitman is gaining a reputation as a critic of Republican party leadership. When she was at EPA, there were constant rumors of friction between her and the White House. Nonetheless, she remains committed to Republican principles of fiscal conservatism and she co-chaired George Bush’s reelection campaign in New Jersey. She’s glad the President was reelected, but she was not happy about what happened after the election.
