Rosemount Estate - Diamond Label Shiraz

Good for a $10 bottle of wine. Had the 2004 this weekend

Quoted: A delicious aroma of warm, spicy liquorice and brambly berry fruit is interwoven with savoury American oak. The palate is richly textured with well defined, ripe blackberry fruit flavours, soft generous tannins and a long, rich finish.

I've always liked this stuff too. Another super great yet inexpensive wine is McManis. I LOVE it.

    poco wine room - home

Aside from them closing at 1:00, I really liked this place. Great atmosphere and friendly owners (although they gave a *littie* more attention to the ladies, but it's all good). Didn't have a chance to try the food tonight -- looking forward to that next time!

It's right up the street from Online Coffee...so it's a good way to end a work session.

Mulled wine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Glogg is a great (and cheap!) wine idea for a cold day. Tried it for the first time yesterday.

Quoted: Glogg (Swedish: Glögg, Norwegian: Gløgg, Danish: Gløgg, Finnish: Glögi) is the Scandinavian form of mulled wine, similar to Glühwein in German-speaking countries. Glühwein is usually prepared from (not too expensive, sometimes outright cheap) red wine, which is heated and spiced with cinnamon sticks, cloves and sugar.

Solo Maremma 2004 Micante Capalbio - Wine at NapaCabs.com

I believe this is the wine we had at Bricco della Regina Anna

Quoted: Micante is a relatively new project from the family who owns Fattoria Le Pupille. This is a spectacular wine that is a blend of seventy percent Sangiovese Grosso and thirty percent Cabernet Sauvignon from the vineyards situated in the sweet hills of Castiglione della Pescaia, Scansano and Magliano of Toscana. The vineyards use the simple Guyot training system and are planted at a density of 6250 plants per hectare. The soil varies in composition but is predominantly sandy, with plenty of stones and low clay content.

    Bricco della Regina Anna

Just went here. I highly recommend: Affogato- panna cotta gelato with a shot of espresso. Hey, does anyone who was with me remember what wine we had? I know it was 'chewy'.

Quoted: In vino veritas - In wine is truth. Plato’s words, not ours, but they hold true even now. Bricco della Regina Anna proudly features a great selection of wines specializing in Italian and Northwest boutique wineries. We invite you to peruse our sample wine list online and to come join us in person for the latest selections and to experience our constantly changing selection of glass pours.

Zenato 1999 Valpolicella Classico Superiore - Wine Tasting Note

I had a zenato valpolicella with dinner today, and it was great!

How Does Wine Get Its Flavor?

Interesting...was wondering how wine can have the flavors of other fruits.

Quoted: When you say a white wine has a hint of apple or pear, or that a red wine has a berry-like character, it is because the esters in apples or pears or berries are present in the wine due to the extracurricular activities of the yeast. Speaking of extra activity, another good example can be seen in Chardonnays. If a Chard is "buttery," it is from the yeast working overtime and producing a compound called diacetyl - which also happens to give butter its flavor.

    A great sweet riesling.

Quoted: Floral, honeyed aroma with hints of apricot, pear and allspice. Rich and full-flavored fruit on the palate is balanced by clean, crisp acidity.
