The dotted link has "/blog" at the end.
D'oh! When the link is 700 characters long, it's easy to miss a detail like that. I would say that's a Digg bug. When they have a URL like this, the page should provide a way to get to the item without having to login, rather than making it look like you can't see it at all without logging in. There was no explanation as to why I was getting the login page instead of the item page.
