Did this today. Pretty nice...short but enough elevation gain to be good exercise. It's right by the Pacific Coast Highway so you you can stop at one of the many Malibu beaches on the way back. Next thing for me to try: In-N-Out Burger (http://www.in-n-out.com/) -- it better live up to the hype!
Quoted: Backbone Trail to Sandstone Peak 3 miles round trip, strenuous—Starting at the Sand-stone Peak Trailhead at an elevation of 2,030 feet, this trail provides views of the Conejo and San Fernando Valleys, as well as the Pacific Coast. Note: The Backbone Trail continues west to Sycamore Canyon and other trails in Point Mugu State Park. Obtain maps before entering the Boney Mountain Wilderness Area.

This turned out to be one of my favorite hikes, and luckily the weather was perfect. It's the same difficulty as Mt. Si but more scenic (in my opinion) and less crowded. There's a 360 degree lookout and a tower at the top.
Quoted: The hike to the peak of Granite Mountain is very popular. The trail is 4 miles in length with a total elevation gain of 3800 feet (0.72 miles). The first couple miles of the trail are through a forest with the rest of the trail open to views of the surrounding mountains. The trail is a constant uphill grade.

Did this today. It's about an hour away from Seattle (shares the same road as Mt. Pilchuck) and is a very quick hike (< 1 hour each way). But, it was quite nice -- old growth forest on the way and a beautiful lake at the top.
Quoted: The trail starts off on an old road and then climbs steadily through second-growth forest. There is a trail all the way around the lake. This hike is popular year-round, some people ice skate on the lake in winter.

I believe this is where we are going tomorrow.
Quoted: Gem Lake is about 10 miles round trip, elevation gain approximately 2,400 feet.
