Microsoft shelves its Virtual PC for Mac | CNET News.com

    For btreloar.

Quoted: The move comes after start-up Parallels introduced its own virtualization software for running Windows on a Mac, and VMware said Monday it plans to provide a beta version of Mac virtualization software later this year.

      Hey Buggia,

I actually had been using the newest version of Parallels and wasn't terribly psyched on it. While it worked, I got a lot of slow animation problems and hanging. Since then, I did increase my system memory to 2 Gigs and I haven't tried it. What sort of system are your running yours on. I have a Core Duo (1st gen macbook pro). Right now I just switched to Boot Camp, which works beautifully of course. I'd like for Parallels to work, really I would... How much memory do you have on your machine?

      Thanks, Mohit,

The version of Virtual PC that came with John's Office didn't work on an Intel-based Mac. Now I see why. I'll suggest he check out Parallels.

I've got a new mac book pro (2.4 Dual core with 2GB ram). I just installed it and haven't acutally used it yet, but I read a reveiw with someone who had my same laptop and they said it worked great.

However, I really do like windows on the mac. Especially since I remapped the "Del" key to the "enter" key. Unless I'm doing PHP or something unix like I don't see the value of the mac over windows.
