    Candyman (1992)

Watched this because a friend told me it was the scariest movie she'd seen. Agree with the following review.

Quoted: Finally, a horror film that is aimed at adults, not your average teen-slasher film of the 80s and 90s with a script that let you figure out all of the major plot points within minutes of viewing. The script always stays several steps ahead of you and keeps you in a wonderful mixture of suspense that never fails to please. The first fifty minutes seem quite eerie, and it seems like nothing much happens, but after that, it is all thrown at you with full force. Utterly disturbing and dream-like, watching this film will relive your childhood nightmares of the bogeyman. The atmosphere is dark, creepy and intense.

Superbad (2007) - Movie Info - Yahoo! Movies

Watched this a little while ago but didn't get a chance to give my review.

It's certainly a movie for the teen guy demographic...but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't entertaining. A couple scenes were a little over the top, though.

    Phörpa (1999)

Recommended. Saw this at the Tibet Festival.

Quoted: An excellent expose of Buddhist monk life. The intertwining of the ancient and the modern is delicate and heartwarming. In particular, this movie had once again reaffirmed me of how we, as human beings, are all somehow connected by threads. The purchase of the satellite dish, so that the younger monks can observe first hand a world wide social phenomenon, aptly represented by the World Cup of Football between France and Brazil, represents most eloquently that thread that lives within all of us.

    The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)

Great conclusion to the series. Amazing action scenes and even a good message.

Quoted: Bourne dodges new, superior assassins as he searches for his unknown past while a government agent tries to track him down.

    The Simpsons Movie (2007)

Saw this last night. I liked it, but it didn't flow as "smoothly" as an episode. I think the style of humor works better in a cohesive 20-minute Simpsons episode that it does in a 90-minute movie. I still recommend it though.

Quoted: After Homer accidentally pollutes the town's water supply, Springfield is encased in a gigantic dome by the EPA and the Simpsons family are declared fugitives.

    Ratatouille - Rotten Tomatoes

Just saw this. As with all Pixar films, my ego didn't want me to watch a cute little kids film! But, I came away happy I saw it. The CGI breaks new ground and the story was enjoyable.

Quoted: So many computer-animated movies are brash, loud and popping with pop-culture comedy, but Ratatouille has the warm glow of a favorite book. The characters are more than the sum of their gigabyte-consuming parts -- they feel handcrafted.

    Vanaja

    Saw this last night.

Quoted: Vanaja (Mamatha Bhukya) is the 14 year-old daughter of a poor, low caste fisherman, struggling with dwindling catches and mounting debt. When a sooth-sayer predicts that she will be a great dancer one day, she goes to work in the house of the local landlady, Rama Devi (Urmila Dammannagari), in hopes of learning Kuchipudi dance while earning a keep.

    First Snow (2006/I)

This was pretty good and worth seeing. 3 stars because it was a cliché theme and not as clever as Memento. My bar was relatively high because Guy Pearce also starred in Memento.

Quoted: The movie portrays a gripping tale of what could be a cliché theme, "Man learns he has a short time to live," in an entertaining and captivating manner. Lead actor is great -- you almost hate him, but yet sympathize with his plight. Lead actress is beautiful.
