    Shinka Tea Co.

There's now a Shinka Tea in Capitol Hill - right across from B&O.

    • seregine - Sep 21 2007

I like this place a lot; it's becoming one of our regular afternoon laptop havens. Lots of great teas; the Senna Black and Lychee Black were memorable.

Seattlest: Vivace to Open at New Location this Friday

    Yay, Vivace is reopening.

Quoted: (Via Metblogs) Vivace will finally be opening its doors at their new Capitol Hill location this Friday, 26th. The new store is located on the ground floor of the Brix condo fortress at the north end of Broadway.

Goats do Roam . . . in Seattle Even | Redfin Seattle Sweet Digs

I saw about 60 goats next to the dog park on my way to work (in urban Seattle between Capitol Hill and downtown). They're there to clear the brush.

Quoted: On my walk downtown this morning, I noticed a heard of goats making short work of the overgrown hillside along I-5, oblivious to the rush hour traffic yards away. The dogs at the park noticed too. One dog’s visit, in fact, had to be cut short, when he tried to jump the fence to reach the greedily grazing goats. (Like he would have known what to do with them if he did manage to make it over the fence.)

The tasty treats at Pike Street Fish Fry mean no more fishin' for good fried fish

Late night unhealthy food that hits the spot. They're open till 2:30 am.

Quoted: The "battered and fried" section includes $5.50 catfish, $7 lingcod and albacore tuna, $4 smelt, $8 sturgeon and $9 halibut. My favorite was the sturgeon, which walloped the halibut on taste and texture. All come with fried preserved lemon, a garnish so good I could eat a full order of it. The fish comes ready to travel on two skewers with a respectable helping of cabbage slaw and a sauce.

    Licorous

I'm normally not a cocktail person, but I enjoyed the well made and creative drinks here. Atmosphere is very nice, too.

Seattlest: B&O Espresso Is Moving On, Staying Put

Thankfully, Dilettante and Vivace will live on in Capitol Hill. They are both relocating to the first floor of Brix.

Quoted: Turns out that he's still planning on moving up to Broadway to take over the old Dilettante's spot (who in turn are relocating to the first floor of Brix, along with Vivace), but now the development of the original B&O location is on hold, and he's renting month-to-month. The opera posters are still hanging. The lemon chiffon cake is still flowing (so to speak). If the real estate downturn stays turned down, we may not lose a B&O, so much as gain one.

Stumptown Coffee Roasters - Seattle, WA | Yelp

There are two Stumptown locations in Capitol Hill. Rumor is the owner has a beef with the Vita owner. Hence the two Stumptown locations are equidistant to Vita. Looks like the 12th and Madison location is the bigger of the two -- with two stories.

UPDATE: I'm not a fan of the 12th and Madison location...too industrial.

Quoted: I was elated when I found out Stumptown was coming to Seattle! I went to Stumptown religiously when I lived in Portland. This is the best coffee in the Seattle! The second best is Tutta Bella in Columbia City for their pulled espresso, reminds me of espresso I had in Paris mmmmmmh and third is El Diablo for fun atmosphere and mexican chocolate mochas!

Business & Technology | Portland's Stumptown Coffee Roasters coming to Seattle | Seattle Times Newspaper

This Portland coffeeshop company now has two locations in Seattle.

Went to a Capitol Hill location (right next to Rudy's Barbershop on Pine) today. The coffee is maybe even better than Vivace's. It's also a decent place to work. While a little small, there is lots of power.

Quoted: David Schomer, a roaster and self-confessed "espresso-head" whose Espresso Vivace is considered by many to have Seattle's most delicious coffee, says he welcomes the competition.
    ...
"Lucky Seattle," Schomer said. "They get another good microroaster. These people are spoiled now."

    Yelp.com | Artemis Cafe & Bar Seattle

Just grabbed a couple drinks here. Really liked the place. It's fancy without feeling pretentious and while maintaining a neighborhood feel (It's on Bellevue just a few blocks from my place). Will definitely go back for Happy Hour and dinner. Recommended. The guy was saying they buy the entire (organic) cow -- so their beef is the real deal.

Quoted: Artemis Cafe & Bar Reviews - "I'm thrilled to have this wonderful restaurant in my Capitol Hill neighborhood. I've heard nothing but great reviews about Artemis. BRAVO! I look forward to dining there with friends when I return home to Seattle from…

Chopsticks - Pan Asian and Sushi Seattle, Capitol Hill | Yelp

This place is one block down the hill from Shinka's and Cafe Metropolitan.

I had the Singapore Noodles, and they were great. The dish had good flavor, moist chicken, and thankfully was not greasy. Also, it was a lot of food for $8.

Quoted: Chopsticks - Pan Asian and Sushi Reviews - "This location has turned over a few times... The old Jo Jo's Teriyaki is no longer after three different owners. (Side Note - The first Jo Jo's was the best.... the others left a lot to be desired)The…
