Bangladesh - History of Cyclone Damage in Bangladesh - thedailygreen.com

Sad. Unfortunately, this is a relatively common occurrence in Bangladesh with the a) low-lying land, b) proximity to water, and c) incredibly dense population (150M people in a space smaller than Iowa).

Quoted: In 131 years, Bangladesh has lost 200 million people to 80 cyclones, according to a tally by Chinese state-run media.

Shaymol Chhaya | 2006 Seattle International Film Festival | Humayan Ahmed | Bangladesh

Saw this recently. The end was slightly anti-climatic...but the journey was interesting to watch. There are some interesting insights into human behavior. Also, the movite motivated to learn more about the 1971 war.

Quoted: During the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, a group of helpless Banglan citizens flees the ruthless Pakistani army, searching desperately for Shaymol Chhaya—The Land of Peace.
