I will be the first to call an Obama victory. Take the current situation. Then, assume Obama sweeps the West coast and Hawaii. That puts Obama at 271. It's over.

It is meant to portray factual information, not the author's opinions (except where so stated). Some of the questions inherently require subjective analysis; in these cases I have tried to show a sample of responsible opinions. I need to disclose up front that I am an Obama supporter; I came to that conclusion after reading the information outlined here; I didn't outline the information because of my support. I hope you fin

Wikipedia is great. They have a section for an ongoing event! Anyways, it looks like the Democrats could get the Senate, but we may not know for sure for 1 month+. The Democrats in Virgina and Montana are holding on to 0.35% and 0.45% leads, respectively.
Also, I'm pretty impressed with the predictions from: http://www.electoral-vote.com:2006/. They seem to have been spot on.
Quoted: While results of the election have yet to be certified, the Democratic Party has won a majority of House seats for the first time since 1994. Democrats may gain control of the Senate as well, pending the outcome of two probable recounts.
...
The Democrats have gained four Senate seats by defeating Republican incumbents in the States of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Missouri, and Democratic Party candidates currently lead in Virginia (with 99% of precincts reporting) and Montana. Gains in the last two races would give Democrats a 51-49 seat majority in the Senate and mean the Democratic Party will control both houses of the United States Congress for the first time since the general elections of 1994.redotted from: deborealis

Just brushing up...
Quoted: The House and Senate are coequal houses. However, there are some special powers granted to one chamber only. The Senate's advice and consent is required to confirm presidential nominations to high-level executive and judicial positions, and for the ratification of treaties. Bills for raising revenue must originate in the House of Representatives, as well as any impeachment proceedings.

Great blog post by Pramila! And, all the content is good - but immediately relevant is the piece about Mallahan (running for Seattle Mayor) - his comments make me very worried and provide yet another reason for me to vote for Nickels.

Yeah, it's really obvious Sarah Palin resigned as governor to get out of the limelight and spend more time with her family :)
1 FaverViewed: 1 TimeQuoted: Attendees have paid $549 a ticket (plus hotel and transportation) to gather for three days at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center, which critics say is out of reach for many activists. Some of the proceeds will cover former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's reported $100,000 fee for Saturday's keynote address.
