Seattlest: Third Murder in Less than Six Months at Hotel of Death

    Sort of scary...

Quoted: The death of a 49-year-old-woman Tuesday at the Frye Hotel marks the third murder at 223 Yesler Way in less than six months. Initially regarded as "the finest hotel in Seattle," the Frye has ironically degenerated into a portrait of violence and despair.

Trying to find some new places by our new office.

Quoted: I started eating here recently for lunch. They have a mix of different Asian foods - Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese food on their menu. I've been here three times recently and it's been consistently good. I've intentionally ordered a different dish each time (i guess being a yelper has changed me a little bit).

There definitely are a number of young companies in Pioneer Square.

Quoted: Since we moved in to Pioneer Square from the wilds of Kirkland last week, it really feels like we are right smack in the middle of a dynamic innovation hub – and that’s inspiring. Here are just a few of our interesting new neighbors:

Voracious: Diner Alert: Simba's Chicken & kabob (Seattle Weekly)

Went here for lunch today and was very impressed. Nice to have good Indian in the neighborhood. Instead of buffet, for $5.99 you can pick three items of your choice. I like this system. You save a little money over a buffet and you don't overeat!

Quoted: Simba's menu has herb-marinated chicken, seekh kabobs, sandwiches, and traditional Indian dishes like lamb vindaloo and spaghetti with grilled chicken. Is it good?

    Falafel House Restaurant

Tried out a new restaurant called Falafel House on 3rd and Main. It's in that standalone building that used to have a teriyaki restaurant.

The owner and employees were *extremely* friendly. Food was good -- the chicken shawarma I had was definitely superior to the one at Mediterranean Mix (aka Med Mix). However, the portion was slightly smaller.

I will be going here frequently for lunch.

    Collins Pub - About Us

Went here last night for a beer and a burger. The waitress claimed the burger was the best in Seattle. I'm not a burger person, so I can't quite corroborate that -- but, it was very good.

Quoted: After twenty years in the food business, Seth Howard fulfilled a dream and opened the Collins Pub on the edge of Pioneer Square.

    Longhorn Barbecue

Just went here for lunch. Good value for $6-$7. Even though the line was long, they were very efficient. Lots of seating, too.

Quoted: Longhorn Barbecue... tending the pits since 1965. The best Texas barbecue in Washington.

Went here for lunch yesterday. Owned by the same folks that own Bengodi. Good size portions and high quality food.
