Federer Squeaks by Sampras at MSG « Boomertime

    Good point..nothing settled.

Quoted: But as far as settling who might be the better of the two, forget about it. Sampras, lacking match play, is now 36 years old and in his sixth year of retirement. Federer, a decade younger, is in the midst of perhaps the worst start of his career.

winnipegsun.com - Other Sports - Sampras, federer put on a show

The 26-year old Federer edged the 36-year old Sampras in this exhibition match.

Quoted: "I don't think winning or losing was really the issue tonight," said Federer, who perhaps found it easier to think that way as Monday turned into Tuesday, given that he did come out on top 6-3, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6). "The winner was tennis. The winner was tennis in America."

    Sampras Slams Current Players…Again

I agree that this doesn't come across well...especially since Federer may be close to surpassing Sampras's 14 Grand Slams.

Quoted: As for Pete cracking on the level of the current players, I understand where he’s coming from and I agree – I have ripped into them, too. But I don’t think Pete should be doing that. It just comes across as sour grapes in his case especially with Roger being about 18 months away from his record. If he wants to say that he can give Federer some problems on a tennis court, that’s cool, I’ll listen. But he needs to stop taking shots at Roger’s competition. That doesn’t do anyone any good.

APNewsBreak: Sampras to play on over-30 tour - Tennis - Yahoo! Sports

apparently, over 30 is old. anyways, it'll be fun to see sampras play again...i think he'll destroy everybody else in the over 30 tour though.

Quoted: Pete Sampras will play tournament tennis for the first time since 2002, competing on a tour for players over 30, The Associated Press has learned. Sampras' Outback Champions Series debut, which will come May 2-6 at Boston University's Agganis Arena, is to be announced formally Tuesday. The 35-year-old Sampras will appear in at least one other event on the tour in 2007. - Tennis news

Tennis - No comeback for Sampras - Eurosport

s, I agree with the below quote from Sampras. However, I'm skeptical that Sampras at 34 would be able to come back and be a serious threat.

Quoted: "They're just staying back and Roger is able to move well enough and dictate well enough. With Roger you just have to beat him. You just have to serve well and attack him."
