Hadn't heard this.
Quoted: "It's not money damage. It's to have the team returned. The theory of the suit is that when the team was sold, the Basketball Club of Seattle, our team here, relied on promises made by Clay Bennett and his ownership that they desired to keep the team in Seattle and intended to make a good-faith effort to accomplish that."

This is a big win for Top Pot. I guess doughnuts, but not breakfast sandwiches, are in line with Starbucks' plan of refocusing on the coffee.
Quoted: Top Pot Doughnuts, a small Seattle chain that caught the attention of Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz more than four years ago, will be in all company-owned Starbucks stores in the U.S. this spring.

In addition to the quoted event, there is a surprise event at the Pike Place Market Starbucks at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8th.
Quoted: We're doing something big at Starbucks. Like Venti big. We can't tell you what's going to happen because that'll ruin the surprise. Just come to any U.S. Starbucks on Tuesday, April 8 at noon Eastern / 9 a.m. Pacific, sharp, to celebrate something big.

I think this is a very smart move.
Quoted: McDonald's is setting out to poach Starbucks customers with the biggest addition to its menu in 30 years. Starting this year, the company's nearly 14,000 U.S. locations will install coffee bars with "baristas" serving cappuccinos, lattes, mochas and the Frappe, similar to Starbucks' ice-blended Frappuccino.

Went to Starbucks today and got a free iTunes download for the song of the day. I do think this promotion is brilliant -- it is enough to make me go to Starbucks instead of Umbria.
Quoted: Customers will receive free "song of the day" cards to download music hand-selected by Starbucks Entertainment, including tunes by Bob Dylan, Joss Stone, John Mayer, Dave Matthews, KT Tunstall, John Legend, Annie Lennox, Joni Mitchell, Keith Urban, Paul McCartney, Sia, Band of Horses, Hilary McRae, Federico Aubele and Sara Bareilles.

Interesting business model! Although, they run the risk of Starbucks deciding to offer WI-FI for free.
Quoted: In late February, the wireless-community builder launched a marketing campaign called “Fonbucks,” giving away Wi-Fi routers to Starbucks’ neighbors around the country. The idea was to get Fon routers close to Starbucks customers trying to connect to a wireless network, giving them a choice between $2-a-day Fon Wi-Fi access or $10 Starbucks T-Mobile access.
