Here is the official website of the Ultra-Mobile PC, aka "Origami" project. I saw a prototype of this a couple months back and it's really lightweight and easy to hold. Curious how this will fare in the "mobile" market. Not sure when these will actually start selling in the market--but if the pricepoint is low, I think it might have a chance. We'll see.

Nice write up of Windows Mobile 6, aka Crossbow---the release I've been working on at Microsoft since I started. It's finally coming out and will be officially announced on Monday. Yay!
Quoted: I've had the pleasure of testing out a beta version of Windows Mobile 6 for a few weeks and I couldn't be happier with it. We'll have a full review coming soon, but since the embargo was just lifted I figured I'd give you some quick highlights of what's found in the new OS as well as some of my first impressions of the operating system itself.

The big earthquake that hit Taiwan Tuesday night (I think it was a 7.1) snapped a bunch of cables on the ocean floor that connect South Asia to the outside world---almost all internet in Hong Kong and phone lines were down for the last few days. Seriously. No internet. Anywhere in Hong Kong. It's slooowly coming back and I'm typing this on a slow connection. One of the biggest telecommunications news stories to hit Hong Kong in years. I think this also affected parts of Japan, Korea and Singapore as well (Nadine, Asayo--can you attest?) Bizarre!

Quoted: YouMail is the new voice mail for cell phones. Among many features, it allows you to record unique voice greetings for anyone who calls you, based on their caller ID. Individualize your voice greetings for friends, family or important callers while maintaining a standard greeting for work and unknown callers.

A few weeks ago, this happened to an employee on the MS campus (bldng 43)--the battery literally exploded in this guy's hands, he threw it on the floor and covered it with a trash can. Smoke went everywhere and the entire building was evacuated. Crazy!
Quoted: Dell to recall 4 million batteries | Inspiron, Latitude and Precision owners should check to see if they qualify for recall offer.

Holy crap, Samsung just unveiled a TEN megapixel cameraphone--the SCH-B600--at CeBIT. Doesn't sound like it'll hit US soil any time soon. Damn. Hallett--you listening to this? ;-)
Quoted: For those curious, the B600 has a 3x optical zoom, flash, S-DMB support, Bluetooth, EV-DO, and TV-out.
