As an experiment, The Washington Post asked Joshua Bell to pull out his Stradivarius violin and play, unannounced, at the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station one morning. On January 12, for 43 minutes, that's just what he did. 1,097 people walked by him. How did they react, and how much money did he collect in the end? Click through to find out--really interesting article!
Quoted: Joshua Bell is one of the world's greatest violinists. His instrument of choice is a multimillion-dollar Stradivarius. If he played it for spare change, incognito, outside a bustling Metro stop in Washington, would anyone notice?

Not only is it the year of the Pig but supposedly the year of the Golden Pig which comes around every 60 years (or the earthen pig as the full cycle won't be complete until 2031). In any case, it's causing Chinese couples around the world to try to get pregnant this year. Beijing hospital officials predict a 20 percent increase in births for this year alone (which is about 3 million more births than normal!).
My people are crazy superstitious.
Quoted: BEIJING, Feb. 28 The Year of the Pig has turned into the year of the baby.

moohaha | Shared With: Everyone - Jul 10 2006 | washington, hikes, trailsI went on a hike yesterday with Matt and friends on the Lennox Creek trail, which is just outside of North Bend. It was a really beautiful trail but technically pretty difficult as much of it is in mud and within a creekbed...and there's a huge part where you feel like you need a machete to get through the massive vegetation. The trail supposedly leads to Lake Anderson, which was our goal...but we stopped shortly before, where the huge granite slabs are. Heads up: the road to the trailhead has been washed out, so you have to park your car about 2 miles before the trail even begins.

It's beyond desperation at this point.
Quoted: Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."
