Epitaph is a record label in true Southern California style. Punky, Ska, Metal, and all good. They can be total pussies and limit their downloads, but there is a ton of great teenage music that is highly accessible.

Saddle creek is a great indie label from the mid west that is smart by signing really hot bands that sell a lot of concert tickets. Smart dudes, and girls!

SVC is a post gothic indie label with quite a few releases , and at least 2 downloads per album! That rocks!

This site host free classical public domain mp3s. It looks like most of the music comes from college campuses who have graduate music programs. Therefor the musicians are a motley crew of over achieving white kids who have been chained to their instruments sense they were big enough to hold it. I actually sat next to one of these kids on a plane one time. He was with his really supportive mom, and was polite and very respectful.

The Fader is a zine (short for magazine, duh) that features the hippest urban culture log on the planet. I guess that is too subjective, but they host a ton of free music. And all the people they talk about are the kind of people you wish you could date.
