Watched this over the weekend on the recommendation of a couple of friends, and I was not disappointed. This movie is excellent, and if you haven't seen it....rent it, buy it, whatever just watch it! :-)
I have to admit that before this year’s world cup I was fairly oblivious to the world of football (soccer). After really paying attention to the World Cup this year though, I'm hooked. Matt, you were totally right...just took me time.
The reason I bring this little antidote up is that Green Street Hooligans introduces yet another aspect of the world of football. I have no clue if these 'firms' are real, but some how I don't doubt that they are to some degree. It adds quite an interesting dimension to the game, and the story that GSH tells makes them all the more interesting. This movie is great, just watch it.
Imagine if Yankee and Red Sox fans were like this? The New Yorkers would totally kick those Mass-hole's butts...just like on the field! :-)
Quoted: Amazon.com: Green Street Hooligans - DVD - Unjustly expelled from Harvard when a stash of cocaine is found in his possession, Matt (Elijah Wood) moves to London to live with his sister and her husband Steve (Marc Warren.) He is quickly introduced to Steve's chirpy, cock-sure younger brother Pete (Charlie Hunnam.) Initially, Pete is reluctant to get acquainted with Matt and allow him to tread around the capital city with him because he may be seen by others as an 'outsider', but after a heavy drinking session with him and his mates he quickly changes his opinion of him. On the way back from a football match, Matt is viciously accosted by a gang of Birmingham City thugs, until Pete and his friends step in and save him. It is from here that Matt learns the truth about Pete and his friends- they are football hooligans, operating the GSE (Green Street Elite) 'firm.' Initially afraid of the violence, Matt soon ends up becoming as desensitized to it as his new found friends- but as events roll on, suspicion, shocking revelations and unsettled scores combine to a devastating climax where London's most fierce football rivals- Millwall and West Ham United- are set to go head to head.

Sony's not threatening any more, they're actually gonna stop making Plasma's. Cool with me, LCD is WAY better!!!
Quoted: Katsumi Ihara, executive deputy president of Sony's procurement strategies and TV & video business, recently stated that the company will stop producing PDP (plasma display panel) TVs, but Sony expects to increase the shipment ratio of its 40-inch and above LCD TVs to more than 50% by the end of 2006, according to a report from the Chinese-language website Sina.com. Ihara talked about Sony's TV strategy in Beijing on August 2, the report noted.
