royleban | Shared With: Everyone - May 08 2008 | computers, social networking, web sites, gamesQuoted: FThe success of such destinations as Club Penguin and Webkinz has paved the way for an explosion of new sites for children. As of last month, more than 100 new virtual worlds had started up or were in development, according to Virtual Worlds Management, a trade group based in Austin, Tex.
Many sites such as Empire of Sports, Planet Cazmo and Xivio are aimed at so-called tweens, ages 8 to 12. For those who have outgrown Club Penguin but who are too young for MySpace, the sites offer a hybrid of a games site and a social network. This year, more than 12 million children nationwide under the age of 18 will visit at least one of these sites, and that number will grow to 20 million by 2011, according to the research firm eMarketer (which didn’t estimate how many children would pretend to be French single mothers).

Just bought two of these. They seem pretty well made and the pivoting works well to keep things closer than the wall (or fit more things with bulky plugs). Has a central screw that replaces the screw in your outlet plate to secure it to the wall.

Oddly, they do not list a amp or watt rating. To be a "workshop" surge supressor, it should be heavy duty. The web shows shows this in yellow, the stores have it in red. Either is fine, safety-wise. The Belkin model looks better/beefier, but has only four outlets.
Quoted: The Workshop Surge is a sturdy and reliable power solution for the home, garage, workshop or job site. It includes 3 transformer/adapter spaced outlets among its 8 protected outlets. It meets OSHA guidelines for indoor use and includes a $200,000 Limited Connected Equipment Warranty.

This looks pretty decent. I think there is more than model with slight differences, perhaps it's whether it includes the telephone protection or not.
Quoted: It's neat, compact, and powerful. Belkin's Compact Surge Protector safeguards your electronics, computers, and appliances-and stays out of the way. It sits on the floor, against a wall, under a desk, or behindyour couch. Unused outlets stay clean and safe with sliding covers. Designed to be inconspicuous, the Compact Surge Protector keeps your cords tidy with integrated cable management. Eight electrical outlets protect equipment-including your telephone-from damaging power surges.
