"The distilled liquor industry has been told to "go jump" by federal Treasurer Wayne Swan after it suggested the government's controversial alcopops tax was not tackling binge drinking."
The dirty war has begun, with the government still with its head in the sand. "It does indicate that tax in itself can be a blunt instrument to deal with a social problem," is the sanest thing said so far; the same can't be said about the rest of them in power.

"Whether you’re a mountain climber or Helli skier or just having a bad hangover, one of these oxygen in a can solutions may be just the thing for you. Breathing in supplements of oxygen or oxygen-enriched air helps the body quickly metabolize and dispose of the toxins consumed in the alcohol. It also helps replace the depleted oxygen used by the body in metabolizing the alcohol during consumption."
Really? Sounds like something thought up by some smart guy bottling up standard air. The placebo effect probably plays a part too.

"Packaged to look like bottled water, Smirnoff Source tastes like vodka with a hint of citrus, but is actually a malt beverage. It is being marketed as an alternative to light beers; it is lighter in taste, calories, carbonation, and alcohol. It’s also lighter than other malt beverages on the market weighing in at a whopping 3.5% alcohol content. The only thing that’s not light about source is its pricetag. Four packs are being sold for about $10."
Oooh, aren't we asking for trouble...

I like this one:
"Beer Spas in Europe
During the last decade, beer spas have opened in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. They claim to promote health, wellness and the chance to bathe in your favorite drink. The spas not only offer a tub of their brew to soak in, but facials as well. The treatments start from $55."What there...if anything, it makes it harder to see who's doing a number 1 :P

"With so much concern about “the children” these days we doubt that fake beer for kids would make it past the pitch stage at any beverage company. Well, almost any company...Sure, there’s the sparkling grape juice that kids sometimes get on New Years Eve in lieu of champagne, but to have it specifically marketed to kids is a different matter...While Americans would likely overreact and freak out, we haven’t seen any such reaction here in Japan and these drinks have been out for a couple of years now."

3 FaversViewed: 2 TimesQuoted: Since absinthe was legalized in the United States in 2007, it has gone from forbidden fruit to virulent weed. Once smuggled from Eastern Europe or procured from back-alley producers, absinthe is now just another bottle on the bar. To give absinthe its moment in the harsh light of day, the tasting panel sampled 20 bottles.
