    mezzoblue § Reduce?

"A couple of weeks back Apple came out with a new keyboard, and due to the local Mac retailers not receiving their shipments immediately, I decided to order direct from Apple. I picked up the box today, and expecting something vaguely keyboard-sized, I nearly choked when the receptionist pulled out a rather large box. Inside of which was another box. Inside of which was another box. Not to mention the plastic."

So, so true. And all the extra stuff wasn't very Apple-y either! The couriers should have reusable bags like they do with pizzas, and just drop off the package in its actual packaging only at the destination.

Blackle Just A Fraud. » Eight Black

"But when operators hide behind the whole “eco-friendly” concept and say that using a black site (instead of white like Google etc) will benefit the environment is just horse-shit... its just not ethical to state that by displaying everything in a black background that the environment will be saved and that our computer screens will use less power - unless they can clearly prove the claim."

Blackle? Lol, how ridiculous. The guy must be having a ball with all the money he's earning from Google though. Smart arse.

Motorola Patents Solar Cell Underneath Phone LCD

"Luckily, there may be an improved option for getting off the grid and into the sun in the near future - Motorola was just awarded a sweet patent for putting a solar-cell underneath an LCD on a mobile device, allowing it to show a display and recharge simultaneously. "

Cool idea. Hope they implement it on the front display as well, because who leaves their flip phone open all the time?

"Nokia has announced new phones designed to help users save energy by notifying them when their phone has been charged – a feature the company hopes to include across its product line. The phones feature an alert that encourages people to unplug the charger once the battery is full, helping to reduce the amount of electricity used. "

This comment says it all - "Put a switch on the bloody chargers. I'm not unplugging it, it's under my desk!"

electro^plankton: Conserve Energy Or This Tree Gets It!

"The Energy Tree monitors your home and habits. Every bit of energy usage is noted and anytime the system feels you're wasting energy, it does something morbid. It feeds the real live tree growing out of it with poison!"

Ouch, sure we need encouragement, but is this going too far?
