"Palm CEO Ed Colligan just posted a message to the company's official blog stating that they've decided to cancel the Foleo mobile companion "in its current configuration" in order to "focus all of our energies on delivering out next generation platform and the first smartphones that will bring this platform to market."...Not that they're giving up on the idea for good."
Necessary, given the ancient age of the current Palm OS, but I was actually looking forward to Foleo - be cool if you could say rent one at the coffee shop to do some work. That way you don't have to carry around a laptop, just need to buy coffee :)

"We know, this whole Vista-friendly Palm Desktop software was supposed to be launched, you know, about the same time as Vista itself, but we suppose late is better than never in this scenario. Without further ado, users yearning for a Vista-compatible flavor of Palm Desktop can finally claim their prize -- if you're down with betas, that is."
You can't be serious. They're only compatible now, after 8 months of Vista? Too busy working on Foleo eh?

"...the big new device that's Palm's Jeff Hawkins has chosen to announce at the D conference today is the Palm Foleo, which the company is billing as a "mobile companion." Boasting a 10-inch widescreen display and a full-size keyboard, the device is intended to be used in conjunction with your smartphone...The device also promises to turn on "instantly," boasts built-in WiFi, and should last about 5 hours on a single charge."
Meh, I expected more from Hawkins. What would be cooler is if you can walk up to anyone's Foleo, and after authorisation, all your data is there. Once you finish using it, deauthorise, and all your data is synced with your Treo and wiped from Foleo. Then maybe cafes could have a few of these for customers to use. Or maybe there's more up his sleeve...

Definitely interesting to see what this is!
