    Playing the Fool - WSJ.com

"When the companies entered into their partnership in 2001, Sony, Toshiba and IBM committed themselves to spending $400 million over five years to design the Cell... In late 2002, Microsoft approached IBM about making the chip... Microsoft was interested and contracted with IBM for their own chip, to be built around the core that IBM was still building with Sony... So Microsoft actually got the chip that Sony helped design before Sony did."

CrunchGear » Archive » The Vaio Fresh Start option: Start your computing experience right… for $50

"Sony, in their infinite wisdom, is offering a way to remove all of the crapware and “extras” they stuff onto their PCs and notebooks. It’s called Fresh Start..."

Wow, they're willing to forego the extra cash they receive to satisfy customer demands? And after extra pressure, they're even doing it for free - see related posts in the linked article.

It's ironic they're calling it 'fresh start' though... surely the marketing department could've done better.

LGC07: SCEE announces PlayTV for PS3, "watch, record and replay TV shows" - Joystiq

As expected, Sony just announced PlayTV, a combined TV tuner and PVR (think TiVo) for the PlayStation 3... PlayTV has two high definition tuners allowing you to watch one channel while recording another all in 1080p... You can store shows on your PS3 or transcode and transfer them to your PSP for viewing on the go and, speaking of PSP, you can use the handheld's Remote Play feature to program or watch your PlayTV while away from home."

Wow, Sony seems to be taking a different route to the Xbox, embracing traditional TV as well. Be interesting how integrated the whole thing would be, but definitely a plus for PS3 owners.

New Crazy Taxi screenshots get wet - PSP Fanboy

"Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars is coming to PSP in just a few weeks: August 14th, to be precise. Sega recently sent us some screenshots showcasing some of the crazier environments you'll be driving in the upcoming PSP revival. We won't comment on the graphics this time around -- we'll leave that up to you. At the very least, we hope the game will maintain the same fun and charm of the Dreamcast originals."

I want this for my PSP! Doesn't have great graphics, but I love the gameplay.

Neowin.net - Parallel Processing Wants PS3's Impounded and Destroyed

"Parallel Processing Corp. is asking a federal court to order Sony to destroy its PlayStation 3 videogame consoles, which PPC claims infringes on its patents for microprocessor technology... The suit claims that the cell processor, developed by Sony, Toshiba, and IBM, violates PPC's patent for "synchronized parallel processing with shared memory." ... Because of the alleged infringement, PPC is seeking damages and wants all PlayStation 3s "impounded and destroyed.""

Wow, wouldn't Sony be in shit if the courts agreed lol.

    Engadget & Joystiq live from Sony's E3 2007 keynote - Engadget

A lot of their strategy hinges on the Home environment, and it is very amazing, especially the mobile phone integration where a photo taken on the phone can be sent to Home and appear on your virtual apartment's wall.

But is that what gamers want, a living-room version of Second Life?

Slaughter: Horror at Sony's depraved promotion stunt with decapitated goat | the Daily Mail

"Electronics giant Sony has sparked a major row over animal cruelty and the ethics of the computer industry by using a freshly slaughtered goat to promote a violent video game...Guests at the event were even invited to reach inside the goat’s still-warm carcass to eat offal from its stomach."

WTF! And I thought Microsoft couldn't market their products - at least they're not stupid enough to do something like this.
