It will be interesting to see if Franken is able to overcome some of the hesitations voters might have about his comedian past.
Quoted: Americans say they want to be represented by "real people" and not by "professional politicians." This year a professional jokester, Al Franken (a Democrat), is challenging a professional politician, incumbent Norm Coleman (a Republican), for a Senate seat from Minnesota.

Ha, awesome.
Quoted: If John McCain and Sarah Palin win in November, it's likely to be more than many Democrats can stand. Slate V imagines how the Canadian government might try to capitalize on this liberal anxiety.

My latest blog entry...
Quoted: It hit me like a ton of bricks today - this will be my first time voting in Washington State elections. So, it seems problematic that I know more about Gov. Corzine's record in New Jersey or Mayor Bloomberg's attempt to seek a third term in New York than I do about Gregoire and Rossi.

This is so messed up I don't even know where to start...
Quoted: Sarah Palin's picture on the cover of Newsweek sparks controversy. Republicans find the photo untouched. In a Fox News video below a Republican said that the Newsweek photo emphasizes Sarah Palin's wrinkles, blemishes, pores and facial hair, while Newsweek make Barack Obama's photo to look "presidential" while they deliberately made Sarah Palin look like "one of the folks".

I really think race is an unspoken, underlying issue in all this...
Quoted: At a normal campaign rally, it's the candidate who tries to whip the crowd into a frenzy. At John McCain's town hall in Waukesha, Wis., Thursday, it was the other way around. "I'm mad, and I'm really mad," said one man who'd been called on to ask a question.

LOL, definitely a mistake to refer to Obama as "that one." There were several awkward moments during this debate where it seemed like McCain might have an outburst...
Quoted: After their second debate, both Barack Obama and John McCain shook hands with the Nashville audience of 80 uncommitted voters. Both were well-received. But Obama stayed longer, and with McCain out of the room, the affection from the swing voters increased.

This article raises a good point. When Joe Sixpack himself is asking questions, you can't call it "gotcha journalism" or the "liberal media" - you actually have to come up with a response.
Quoted: In advance of Tuesday's town-hall debate, both candidates have apparently decided to have a cleanse. Before facing questions from an audience of undecided voters who say they don't like negative campaigning, Obama and McCain are engaging in an orgy of it.

The SNL version of the VP debate, with Queen Latifah as Gwen Ifill. Tina Fey for VP!

Sad...
Quoted: He was a star in the Republican Party. Now, like dozens of his G.O.P. colleagues, he’s quitting Congress, fed up with his party, his president and the process.

You must be shiwani's friend before you can comment on this Fave.I'd rather have a smart comedian than a dumb actor!
I still miss him on Air America Radio.
BTW, what's with that word the writer uses: uxorious? (!)
