Ugh, for REAL!
Quoted: BIG cities like New York are both deeply convenient — two steps to the deli for milk in the morning — and deeply inconvenient. It is possible to live in the same city as the person you are dating, and have to travel an hour, or even two, to get together.

Oh I hope they reopen it! One of my favorite memories is climbing up the Statue of Liberty as a kid - esp. during the centennial year... so cool.
Quoted: The National Park Service is considering reopening the Statue of Liberty’s crown, which has been closed since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Planning on checking out this exhibit next week. (It was featured in an NY Times article when it first opened).
Quoted: On view in the Arthur Ross Terrace and Garden, this exhibition highlights the growing trend among designers to create affordable and socially responsible objects for the vast majority of the world's population (90 percent) not traditionally serviced by professional designers.

Cute Italian place in the E. Village. This is definitely a place you go for the ambience (cozy, dark, lots of candles, big windows opening onto the street) and for the wine. The food's good, but it's not the best Italian in the Village.

One of my favorite backyard patios restaurants in NY. The hummus is killer.
Quoted: You probably haven't wandered in here since sophomore year at NYU, but don't worry: nothing's changed. See the review of this Mediterranean restaurant at 97 St. Marks Pl. in Manhattan.

I think Pongal might have the best dosa in NYC!
Quoted: At Pongal restaurant you will find a range of delectable vegetarian cuisine bursting with all the natural flavors and spices true to its original tradition.

Great article on rooftop bars in NYC. I also really like the Hotel Metro bar (only open weekdays) and The Delancey. There are so many more of these in NYC than I even realized! Time to start exploring :)
Quoted: With the opening of the bar, 230 Fifth, on May 4, Manhattan's rooftop bar season unofficially kicked off.

Another great rooftop bar in NYC. This one's in Koreatown and is small, down to earth, a little more hidden/quiet, and pretty chill/ affordable. Also has a great view of the Empire State Building!
Quoted: Despite the hustle and bustle of its location (smack dab in the middle of Koreatown), Me'Bar doesn't see a lot of foot traffic. Hidden on the 14th floor of La Quinta, this tourist-friendly spot is no-frills--its tiny indoor space has mirrored walls and linoleum floors, while a mid-size outdoor area offers umbrella tables encircled by a white picket fence. Big city glamour comes from the nearby Empire State building, towering overhead.

This rooftop bar has such a beautiful view of the Empire State Building! It gets ridiculously crowded (long lines for the elevator and bathrooms) and a little obnoxious later on the weekends, so I highly recommend it for happy hour or pre-midnight on the weekends! (FYI, it's a tad on the dressy/pricey side, but definitely worth it for a special occasion).
Quoted: What if Studio 54 had the biggest roof deck in the city? You don't have to imagine it. It just happened. See the profile of this Manhattan bar at 230 Fifth Ave.
