Va. teen suffers rare illness after swine flu shot - msnbc.com

GBS is also a very rare side effect of the regular flu shot ... and in fact, health officials are saying they're seeing a surprisingly low percentage in swine flu shot recipients compared to what they see with the standard seasonal vaccination.

Quoted: A 14-year-old Virginia boy is struggling to walk after coming down with a suspected case of Guillain-Barre syndrome within hours after receiving the H1N1 vaccine for swine flu. The cases raises anti-vaccine fears, but health officials see no link.

Yeah, I've read that getting the vaccine actually lowers your chances of getting GBS, since GBS can also be (and is more commonly) triggered by the flu virus itself.

Yes! This story is all over the news ... I hope it doesn't stop people in high-risk categories from getting the vaccine.
