Interesting article about food allergy research in the New Scientist -- although I think the headline would read better as "more and more curious."
Quoted: The more we find out about food allergies, the stranger they seem to get -- yet discoveries are changing how we think about them.

Really interesting piece from Slate...
Quoted: High-fructose corn syrup first started trickling into our food supply about 40 years ago; by 1984, it was flowing from just about every soda fountain in the country. These days HFCS accounts for almost half of all the added sugars in the U.S. diet, but the corn Niagara may soon be over.

Apparently this is very common in Hawaii, as well as tropical countries. Good to know about.
Quoted: Health officials are calling for wider awareness of ciguatera, an underreported tropical fish-borne illness that causes odd symptoms, including reversed sensations of hot and cold.

So interesting - while researching a story, I found out that 25% of Americans think they have food "allergies," when really, many are dealing with intolerances (only 3% of adults have true food allergies). I'm trying to look at some of the possible causes of all of this - I don't think it's psychosomatic, like some doctors suggest...
Quoted: Have we become oversensitive to food allergies? Doctors say that misdiagnosed food allergies appear to be on the rise, reports Tara Parker-Pope of the New York Times — and many families are needlessly avoiding foods.

Interesting MSN City Guides article about a growing trend in restaurants using all parts of animals in preparing their menus. It's not only healthy, but environmentally friendly too! Also, that's a mighty fine headline if I may say so :)
Quoted: Some high-end eateries are going whole hog (cow, lamb, chicken—you name it) by using every part of an animal.
