Kutta, I didn't know you cook! I stocked up a bunch if you need some. Last I checked, Mayuri's prices were just fine.

      hee hee...

i tend not to cook daal at home (or indian food, for that matter) but i definitely enjoy partaking of it at restaurants and would be sad if they had to cut their daal makhani =[

Delhi Snacks Move Up From the Street - New York Times

What's up with the NY Times doing so many stories on Indian street food? I have to admit, though, it would be very sad to see the streets of Delhi vendor-less even if high-end places serve the same snacks. Anyway, where's the fun in eating kebabs or chaat in a fancy overly hygienic restaurant?

Quoted: With the government cracking down on sidewalk cookery, and high-end restaurants serving snacks usually found only by the roadside, Indian street food is under threat.

    TAMARIND New York City

My favorite fancy Indian restaurant in NYC. Not too pretentious, and the menu has plenty of classics, inventive combinations, and surprisingly good Indian wine! Also, great ambiance and service - and not super pricey given the caliber.
