Don’t Point That Menu at My Child, Please - New York Times

Yeah, I never really understood the point of kids' menus, other than the fun activities and the smaller portions/cheaper prices. Why would you feed your kid chicken fingers when you're out at a nice restaurant? Eating different cuisines at an early age is the best way to develop a palate for them...

Quoted: America is in the grips of a nefarious chicken-finger pandemic, in which a bland tasting foodstuff has somehow become the de facto official nibble of our young.

Restaurant owners don't have much of a choice ... gotta give the people what they want, even if they shouldn't want it :)

Also, kids can easily throw tantrums if they don't get what they want. Parents may not mind that, but I'm willing to bet that screaming kids are the last thing nice restaurants want to deal with.

True true... but it's a chicken or the egg kind of thing. Do restaurants have crap food for kids because it's what kids want or do kids want crap food because it's what they're being given?

For the Gluten-Averse, a Menu That Works - New York Times

Another reason why NY is awesome... I ate at Risotteria and didn't even realize their food was gluten-free!

Quoted: New bakeries and pizzerias that prepare gluten-free foods have popped up all over New York City, and restaurants that were already celiac-friendly have expanded their menus. Risotteria is a nationally known hub for people with celiac disease.
