Reusable water bottles you'll actually want to use. - By Laura Moser - Slate Magazine

Another cool article from Slate. Then again, I don't need a new water bottle thanks to the nifty free one I got at the work picnic!

Quoted: Unless you're stationed in the rapidly disappearing Arctic, you've probably heard about the evils of bottled water these past few months. So, I went in search of a reusable water bottle that I actually liked—a stylish, versatile, easy-to-clean (and carry) container that I could refill anywhere, as often as my thirst dictated.

you know, this article is quite good, but they really needed some sort of summing up graphic with pros and cons in a graph/ table format. it was not what i would call "at a glance" readable.

Who says you need to drink eight glasses of water a day? - Slate Magazine

So you don't really need 8 glasses of water a day! It's an idea that's been around for almost 200 years and surprisingly, no one revisited it seriously until recently.

Quoted: A recent editorial in the Journal of the American Society for Nephrology is getting wide press coverage for debunking the so-called "8x8" theory—the popularly held belief that drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily helps remove toxins, improve skin tone, and increase satiety, among other health benefits. The authors chalk up the belief to folklore.

New York’s Water Supply May Need Filtering - New York Times

This is a surprise... for a long time I had heard that NY's water supply was one of the cleanest in the country.

Quoted: New York City’s water supply has become muddier and the city may have to build a massive filtration plant.
