Even though today's wind storm won't be as bad as previously thought, I'm getting the hell out of the east side early today.
Quoted: The Highway 520 bridge typically gets closed down if there are sustained winds reaching 50 mph for 15 minutes or more, said Lauren Penning, spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation. A warning siren on the bridge will go off if winds reach 40 mph for one minute.

My latest blog entry...
Quoted: It hit me like a ton of bricks today - this will be my first time voting in Washington State elections. So, it seems problematic that I know more about Gov. Corzine's record in New Jersey or Mayor Bloomberg's attempt to seek a third term in New York than I do about Gregoire and Rossi.

LOVE the Fleet Foxes. Anyone interested in catching this show on the 19th?
Quoted: We’ve succeeded for ourselves if we’ve made a song where every instrument is doing something interesting and melodic. We try to draw from the traditions of folk music, pop, choral music and gospel, baroque psychedelic, sacred harp singing, West Coast music, traditional music from Ireland to Japan, and film scores, and are inspired by the music of our contemporaries in the Seattle music family.”

My latest blog post... it's supposed to make you excited for fall!
Quoted: The days are getting shorter, there's a cool breeze in the air, and Seattle-ites are muttering the unmentionable: "I can't believe the summer's almost over." But you won't hear this bonafide fall-o-phile complain - well, not until winter.

My latest blog post ... about bagels ... yum.
Quoted: Greetings from New York, where I am currently in bagel bliss. I know, New Yorkers can be obnoxious about their bagels, among other things. But experiencing the chewy goodness all over again has got me thinking - maybe there really is something in the water tha tmakes New York bagels so damn tasty and tough to replicate.

My latest blog post, inspired by some dialogue that took place on Faves :)
Quoted: Seattle Newcomer Examiner - If I've learned something in the few years that I've lived in Seattle, it's that you can't ignore Seafair.

My latest blog post about Seattle's book industry...
Quoted: Seattle Newcomer Examiner - Nancy Pearl, Seattle-based founder of Book Lust, has put the city's literary scene on the map. And as she noted in the New York Times, thanks to the impact of local companies like Amazon, Costco and Starbucks, "New York may publish the books, but Seattle significantly defines America’s reading list.”

My latest blog post. Mom, I think you'll enjoy the last paragraph :)
Quoted: Seattle Newcomer Examiner - Seattle's got some fantastic restaurants, like Wild Ginger and Palace Kitchen. But there's still something missing - the South Asian equivalent (that is, a restaurant/lounge with authentic but inventive Indian food and great ambiance).

You must be shiwani's friend before you can comment on this Fave.you may want to consider i-90 if the traffic is not too bad -- holds up much better than 520 during windstorms.
yeah, i'm gonna leave early AND take i-90. double defense! nobody's here today anyway - commute sucked this morning.
tell me about it. i had to be in south bellevue for an 8:30 meeting and it took me 45 minutes.
Shiwani I am glad you are taking precautions. I had heard about the storm on TV. It is so warm and humid over here.
