Okay, I don't think I'm the first person to Fave this, but this blog is too funny for me not to share with everyone... Did you know that the nacho, the margarita, and boxed macaroni and cheese are all younger than John McCain?
Quoted: Things younger than Republican Presidential candidate (oh, and did I forget to mention war hero?) John McCain.

Of course, there is now an explosion of "stuff X people like" blogs. Here's 'Stuff Indians Like,' and I also faved 'Stuff Desis/Brown People Like.'
Quoted: In suburbs across America Indians announce their arrival with personalized license plates. If you yourself don't have a personalized license plate for your Camry, Accord, Caravan or Windstar, then at least one other Indian family in your neighborhood does.

A case against the blog "Stuff White People Like" from The Root.
Quoted: By now you've likely been forwarded the link three, maybe four times. Everyone loves Stuff White People Like. The blog, started this past January by 29-year-old L.A. comedian and "internet copy writer" Christian Lander, cheekily promises "a scientific approach to highlight and explain stuff white people like," Barack Obama. Well, sorry, but it's a classic, lazy, con-job.

Sean was in my children's book class at the School of Visual Arts in NY - I seriously can't get over how beautiful his art is. I'm happy to see he's making it in the children's book world!
Quoted: This image is of Lauryn Hill. It also got me the contract to illustrate Powerful Words. At the time I used mostly gouache and tempera.

Wow, it's a shame to see that book reviewers and editors are being cut left and right. I think local papers have their own take on authors/books that larger wire services could never match. Well, I guess this is another aspect of journalism where the most in-depth work is going to be done by bloggers.
Quoted: All across the country, newspapers are cutting book sections or running more reprints of reviews from wire services or larger papers.

This is so great! My children's book teacher started a blog where she interviews other authors/illustrators. I found out that one of the students from my class just got published - he illustrated a children's book on Dizzy Gillespie!
Quoted: For my first interview in this space, I am very pleased to introduce Susanna Pitzer! Big congratulations: Not Afraid of Dogs, written by her and illustrated by Larry Day, just won a Golden Kite Award ! This is a prestigious award given by the Society of Children's Book Authors and Illustrators.

Redotted from Megha
Apparently the student republican group is sticking an actor in the crowd with a label saying "illegal immigrant." I fail to see how this raises awareness about anything.
Quoted: They’re not exactly descending upon Washington Square Park with horse and hound, but members of the College Republican club of New York University have certainly managed to offend some rather more proletariat sensibilities with their “Find the Illegal Immigrant” challenge, scheduled for today.
