Anti-abortion activists hijack 'Horton Hears a Who!' - Slate Magazine

It would be funny if it weren't so absurdly stupid (and alarming).

Quoted: It's Fun To Have Fun: Your Hollywoodland correspondent attended the glamorous premiere of Horton Hears a Who! last Saturday and was present when protesters started yelling shortly after Horton uttered his famous motto: "A person's a person, no matter how small."

Jindabyne - Raymond Carver - Movies - New York Times

Looking forward to this movie - Raymond Carver's one of my favorite writers! And Laura Linney's great too. I read Carver's work so long ago, though, that I didn't even realize he lived in the Pacific Northwest for so long.

Quoted: Raymond Carver’s characters get transplanted from the Pacific Northwest to Australia for the film, “Jindabyne.” Most of Carver’s stories are set in the Pacific Northwest, where he spent most of his life. It’s not an area he describes in a lot of detail, but it’s nonetheless a defining circumstance for his characters.

Steal This Book - New York Times

Follow-up on the copyright breach case involving Dan Brown... I agree with the writer of this piece - historical fiction is based in facts/theories that are difficult for any 1 person to lay claim to... (Also, I sort of think this is only a major issue now that "The Da Vinci Code" is being turned into a movie...)

Quoted: The author of "The Da Vinci Code" is accused of breach of copyright, but the truth is that historical fiction has its roots in fictional history.

Great Sunday morning show on CNN at 10am Pacific. I especially enjoy the second half where international analysts give the global perspective on issues that I otherwise only hear covered from the U.S. perspective.

Quoted: Fareed Zakaria GPS is an hour-long program that takes a comprehensive look at foreign affairs and the policies shaping our world. Every week we bring you an in-depth interview with a world leader, as well as a panel of international analysts who examine the major global developments of the week.
