I can't believe this case was even an issue - Brazil was clearly in violation of an international treaty. I really hope he's able to regain full custody of his son ASAP.

Apparently N.J. was one of the last northern states to emancipate slaves and had comparatively harsh laws regarding runaways ... hence the apology.
