New Jersey's apology for slavery. - Slate Magazine

Apparently N.J. was one of the last northern states to emancipate slaves and had comparatively harsh laws regarding runaways ... hence the apology.

Quoted: Although New Jersey prohibited the importation of slaves after 1786, it "was the last northern state to emancipate its slaves," waiting until 1846 to abolish the practice.

Love the headline... '20-POUND RATS INVADE JERSEY; "HOW COULD THEY TELL" JOKES BREAK OUT ACROSS NATION.' Gawker is funny, but nutria are a serious pain.

Quoted: In solidarity with striking T.V. writers, rats have been spotted in creeks and marshes in New Jersey. Sort of. They're actually nutria, not rats, but they're giant, furry rodents who are apparently very damaging to fragile natural ecosystems like those of the Garden State.

Grounds for Sculpture - New Jersey

Absolutely amazing sculpture park in NJ. Never seen anything like it! The landscaping is beautiful and literally every corner you turn has a surprise. I constantly found myself saying things like, "Oh look, there are people having a picnic," only to find it was an elaborate sculpture scene. Highly recommended!

Quoted: New Jersey sculpture garden displays works by American and international sculptors in a variety of styles and media.

'Don't Stop Believin' ' plays key 'Sopranos' role - CNN.com

See, the use of a Journey song in the final episode of The Sopranos is very fitting, and not particularly surprising, given that New Jersey is stuck in the '80s (and I mean that as a compliment!!).

Quoted: The songwriters of Journey's power ballad "Don't Stop Believin"' were "jumping up and down" when they learned a few weeks ago it had been licensed for use in the final episode of "The Sopranos."
