When yoga harms rather than heals - MSNBC.com

I think this article does a good job of pointing out that the benefits of yoga still far outweigh the risks, and that it's a very individual activity that requires listening to your own body rather than trying to "compete" with other students.

Quoted: Sloppy teaching and growing numbers of overly competitive students are giving yoga lovers serious and scary injuries: slipped disks, torn tendons, even strokes.

How Rafael Nadal beat Roger Federer at Wimbledon. - Slate Magazine

I see the writer's point - this definitely makes men's tennis more interesting to watch for sure. But I don't know that I'd really call Nadal a 'defensive' player - he really seemed to be dictating most of the shots in the Wimbledon final...

Quoted: Remember the early 2000s when men's tennis became almost unwatchable—booming serves, points that ended before you blinked, rackets blasting serves 130 miles an hour? With Rafael Nadal dethroning 5-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer, that no longer applies. Defense now reigns supreme.

    India gets a cheerleading squad...

Quoted: How paradoxical, and delightful, that Bangalore, a city that has leapt to global prominence on the back of work outsourced by America, is now itself outsourcing from America. On Sunday, a team of Washington Redskins cheerleaders landed in Bangalore to help create India’s first cheerleading squad.

Paris protests force cancellation of Olympic torch relay - msnbc.com

Damn, I wasn't expecting protests to directly affect the Olympic relay to this degree. Good, though - Olympic officials should be forced to explain what kind of message they're trying to send by picking China to host the games. Still, I feel bad for the athletes - it's not their fault.

Quoted: Security officials snuffed out the Olympic torch and carried it through Paris in the safety of a bus at least five times Monday before canceling the final run of a relay repeatedly disrupted by chaotic protests against China’s human rights record.
